The Elect One

There is yet another a passage found in the Eth CEPHER that is different from every other English translation.  Let’s take a look:

Luqas (Luke) 9:35
And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my yachiyd, the Elect One: hear him.

Let’s compare:

Wycliffe Bible (WYC): And a voice was made out of the cloud, and said [saying], This is my dear-worthy Son, hear ye him.

American Standard Version (ASV): And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is [a]my Son, my chosen: hear ye him.

Amplified Bible (AMP): Then [a]a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, My Chosen One; listen and obey and yield to Him!”

Complete Jewish Bible (CJB): and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen. Listen to him!”

English Standard Version (ESV): And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One;[a] listen to him!”

1599 Geneva Bible (GNV): And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is that my beloved Son, hear him.

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV): And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

New American Standard Bible (NASB): Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”

New International Version (NIV): A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

New King James Version (NKJV): And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son.[a] Hear Him!”

So we see that the NIV, the NASB, the ESV, the CJB, the AMP, and the ASV use the term chosen in their interpretation.  The NKJV, the AKJV, the GNV and the Wycliffe do not.

We also see that the NIV, the NASB, the ESV, the CJB, the AMP, and the ASV do not use the term beloved, but the NKJV, the AKJV, the GNV do.  The Wycliffe uses the term dear worthy.

There are two words at issue here, in the Greek.  The first one is this word εκλελεγμενος (eklelegmenos).  The translations referenced above use the word chosen to interpret this term, but the better interpretation is the elect one. The second word is this word αγαπητος (agapétos), meaning the beloved.  We see this term used in the NKJV, the AKJV and the GNV.

As we have discussed before, we use the term yachiyd here, as that term in the Hebrew would be identical to this term agapétos here. Take a look at the original Greek:

Luqas (Luke) 9:35
Kαι φωνη εγενετο εκ της νεφελης λεγουσα ουτος εστιν ο υιος μου ο εκλελεγμενος αγαπητος αυτου ακουετε

[και (and)  φωνη (saying) εγενετο (coming) εκ (from) της (the) νεφελης (clouds) λεγουσα (saying) ουτος (this) εστιν (is) ο (the) υιος (son) μου (my) ο (the) εκλελεγμενος (elect one) αγαπητος (beloved) αυτου (him) ακουετε (hear).

The Elect One is a most significant term and it is found fourteen times in the Cepher Chanoch (the Book of Enoch).  If the cepher was indeed known to the apostles of HAMASHIACH, with its abundant descriptions of the Elect One who should "sit upon the throne of glory" and the Elect One who should "dwell in the midst of them," then great Scriptural authenticity is accorded to the Cepher Chanoch when the "voice out of the cloud" tells the apostles: This is my yachiyd, the Elect One - the one promised in the Cepher Chanoch.

Here are passages from Chanoch (Enoch):

40:3-5
Then I heard the voices of those upon the four sides magnifying YAHUAH of glory. 4 The first voice blessed YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH forever and ever. 5 The second voice I heard blessing the Elect One, and the elect who suffer on account of YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH.

45:3
In that day shall the Elect One sit upon a throne of glory; and shall choose their conditions and countless habitations, while their ruachot within them shall be strengthened, when they behold my Elect One, for those who have fled for protection to my holy and glorious name.

49:2-4
But iniquity passes away like a shadow, and possesses not a fixed station: for the Elect One stands before YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH; and his glory is forever and ever; and his power from generation to generation. 3 With him dwells the RUACH of Intellectual Wisdom, the RUACH of Instruction and of Power, and the ruach of those who sleep in righteousness; he shall judge secret things. 4 Nor shall any be able to utter a single word before him; for the Elect One is in the presence of YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH, according to his own pleasure.

51:2-5
He shall select the righteous and holy from among them; for the day of their yeshu`ah has approached. 3 And in those days shall the Elect One sit upon his throne, while every secret of intellectual wisdom shall proceed from his mouth, for YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH has gifted and glorified him. 4 In those days the mountains shall skip like rams, and the hills shall leap like young sheep satiated with milk (Tehilliym (Psalms) 114:6); and all shall become like angels in heaven. 5 Their countenance shall be bright with joy; for in those days shall the Elect One be exalted. The earth shall rejoice; the righteous shall inhabit it, and the elect possess it.

The Book of Jasher | The Veracity of the Cepher Yashar

There are those who flat-footedly declare the book of Jasher to be fake, claiming that the book was somehow reverse engineered, using Bible texts that appear to quote from it (and the examples are set forth herein) as just the opposite – that the writer(s) of Yashar somehow quoted the ... Genetics in Scripture
