"Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Mosheh, so do these also resist the Truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerncing the faith."
Timotheus Sheniy (2 Timothy) 3:8

One might ask, where did Sha'ul get these two men's names that withstood Mosheh? The answer might suprise you.

Sha'ul is speaking about those who resist the Truth in this passage of Scripture. He could have used many examples in your 39 book Tanakh (Old Testament):

For example, he could have chose:
Qayin (Cain), who killed his brother Hevel (Abel); Bere'shiyth (Genesis) 4
The Rebellion of Qorach (Korah), who withstood the authority of Mosheh; Bemidbar (Numbers) 16:5.
Or even the first tyrant that walked the earth in Nimrod. Bere'shiyth (Genesis) 10:8.

But chose to use the example of two men who you will not find by name anywhere within the pages of your standard Bible text.

Jannes and Jambres:

"And when they had gone Phar`oh sent for Bil`am the magician and to Jannes and Jambres his sons, and to all the magicians and conjurors and counsellors which belonged to the king, and they all came and sat before the king."
Yashar (Jasher) 79:27

You will find in the pages of your Eth CEPHER that Jannes and Jambres are the sons of Bil`am (Balaam). The same Bil`am that Balaq sent for to curse Yashar'el (Yisra'el) when they were coming out of Mitsrayim in Bemidbar (Numbers) 21 and following.

Could Sha'ul have been giving credence to this Cepher Yashar (Book of Jasher)? One can only speculate. But this book is mentioned by name Yahusha (Joshua) 10:13 and Shemu'el Sheniy (2 Samuel) 1:18.

One thing for sure is that Sha'ul was reading this Cepher Yashar (Book of Jasher).
