PARASHAT: Shemot 33:12 - 34:26
And Mosheh said unto EL-YAHUAH, See, you say unto me, Bring up את eth-this people: and you have not let me know את eth whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, I know you by name, and you have also found grace in my sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found grace in your sight, show me now את eth-your way, that I may know you, that I may find grace in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people. 14 And he said, My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest. 15 And he said unto him, If your presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and your people have found grace in your sight? is it not in that you go with us? so shall we be separated, I and your people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. 17 And YAHUAH said unto Mosheh, I will do את eth-this thing also that you have spoken: for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name. 18 And he said, I beseech you, show me את eth-your glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of YAHUAH before you; and will be gracious to whom את eth-I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom את eth-I will show mercy. 20 And he said, You cannot see את eth-my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And YAHUAH said, Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away את eth-my hand, and you shall see את eth-my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
And YAHUAH said unto Mosheh, Hew you two sapphire stones like unto the first: and I will write את eth-upon these sapphires the words that were in the first sapphires, which you broke. 2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto Mount Ciynai, and present yourself there to me in the top of the Mount. 3 And no man shall come up with you, neither let any man be seen throughout all the Mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
4 And he hewed two sapphire stones like unto the first; and Mosheh rose up early in the morning, and went up unto Mount Ciynai, as YAHUAH had commanded him, and took in his hand the two sapphire stones. 5 And YAHUAH descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of YAHUAH. 6 And YAHUAH passed by before him, and proclaimed, YAHUAH, YAHUAH EL, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. 8 And Mosheh made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. 9 And he said, If now I have found grace in your sight, O ADONAI, let my ADONAI, I pray you, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.
10 And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which you are shall see את eth-the work of YAHUAH: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with you. 11 Guard את eth that which I command you this day: behold, I drive out before you את eth-the Emoriy, and the Kena`aniy, and the Chittiy, and the Perizziy, and the Chivviy, and the Yevuciy. 12 Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you: 13 But ye shall destroy את eth-their altars, break את eth-their images, and cut down את eth-their Asherah poles: 14 For you shall worship no other el:[i] for YAHUAH, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous EL: 15 Lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their elohiym, and do sacrifice unto their elohiym, and one call you, and you eat of his sacrifice; 16 And take of their daughters unto your sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their elohiym, and make your sons go a whoring את eth-after their elohiym. 17 You shall make no molten elohiym.
18 The את eth-Feast of Matstsah shall you guard. Seven days you shall eat matstsah, as I commanded you, in the time of the month Aviyv: for in the month Aviyv you came out from Mitsrayim. 19 All that opens the womb is mine; and every firstling among your cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male. 20 But the firstling of an ass you shall redeem with a lamb: and if you redeem him not, then shall you break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
21 Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in earing time and in harvest you shall rest.
22 And you shall observe the Feast of Shavu’ot,[ii] of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Cukkot at the year's end.
23 Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear את eth-before ADONAI YAHUAH, the ELOHIYM of Yisra’el. 24 For I will cast out the nations before you, and enlarge את eth-your borders: neither shall any man desire את eth-your land, when you shall go up to appear את eth-before YAHUAH ELOHAYKA thrice in the year. 25 You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the Feast of the Pecach be left unto the morning. 26 The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring unto the house of YAHUAH ELOHAYKA. You shall not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.
HAFTARAH: Yechezq’el 37:1-14
The hand of YAHUAH was upon me, and carried me out in the RUACH YAHUAH, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, 2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. 3 And he said unto me, son of Adam, can these bones live? And I answered, O ADONAI YAHUAH, you know. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the Word of YAHUAH. 5 Thus says ADONAI YAHUAH unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am YAHUAH. 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. 8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. 9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of Adam, and say to the wind, Thus says ADONAI YAHUAH; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, son of Adam, these bones are the whole house of Yisra’el: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus says ADONAI YAHUAH; Behold, O my people, I will open את eth-your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Yisra’el. 13 And ye shall know that I am YAHUAH, when I have opened את eth-your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14 And shall put my RUACH in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I YAHUAH have spoken it, and performed it, says YAHUAH.
BESORAH: Marcus 14
AFTER two days was the Feast of the Pecach, and of Matstsah: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. 2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Shim`on the jar maker, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head. 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6 And YAHUSHA said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she has wrought a good work on me. 7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. 8 את eth She has done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. 9 Amein I say unto you, Wheresoever this Besorah shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
10 And Yahudah Iyshqiryot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. 11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
12 And at the beginning of the daylight hours of the Pecach week, when they killed the Pecach, his Talmidiym said to him, where will you that we should go to prepare that we may eat את eth-the Pecach? 13 And he sent forth two of his Talmidiym, and said unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. 14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master says, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat את eth-the Pecach with my Talmidiym? 15 And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us. 16 And his Talmidiym went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the Pecach. 17 And in the evening he came with the twelve. 18 And as they sat and did eat, YAHUSHA said, Amein I say unto you, One of you which eats with me shall betray me. 19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? 20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dips with me in the dish. 21 The Son of Adam indeed goes, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of Adam is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
22 And as they did eat, YAHUSHA took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. 23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. 24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the Renewed Covenant, which is shed for many. 25 Amein I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it anew in the Kingdom of YAHUAH.
26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives. 27 And YAHUSHA said unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite את eth-the Shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. 28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galiyl. 29 But Kepha said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. 30 And YAHUSHA said unto him, Amein I say unto you, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, you shall deny me thrice. 31 But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with you, I will not deny you in any wise. Likewise also said they all. 32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he said to his Talmidiym, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. 33 And he took with him Kepha and Ya`aqov and Yahuchanon, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; 34 And said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. 35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto you; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what you will. 37 And he came, and found them sleeping, and said unto Kepha, Shim`on, do you sleep? could not you watch one hour? 38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The ruach truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. 39 And again he went away, and prayed, and spoke the same words. 40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither knew they what to answer him. 41 And he came the third time, and said unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of Adam is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrays me is at hand.
43 And immediately, while he yet spoke, came Yahudah, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 And he that betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. 45 And as soon as he was come, he goes straightway to him, and said, Master, master; and kissed him.
46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him. 47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 48 And YAHUSHA answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? 49 I was daily with you in the Temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the Scriptures must be fulfilled. 50 And they all forsook him, and fled. 51 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: 52 And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
53 And they led YAHUSHA away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. 54 And Kepha followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. 55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against YAHUSHA to put him to death; and found none. 56 For many bore false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. 57 And there arose certain, and bore false witness against him, saying, 58 We heard him say, I will destroy this Temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. 59 But neither so did their witness agree together. 60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked YAHUSHA, saying, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you? 61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Are you HAMASHIACH, the Son of the Blessed? 62 And YAHUSHA said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of Adam sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and said, What need we any further witnesses? 64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. 65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
66 And as Kepha was beneath in the palace, there came one of the maids of the high priest: 67 And when she saw Kepha warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And you also were with YAHUSHA the Netseriy. 68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what you say. And he went out את eth into the porch; and the cock crew. 69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. 70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Kepha, Surely you are one of them: for you are a Galiyliy,[iii] and your speech agrees thereto. 71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. 72 And the second time the cock crew. And Kepha called to mind the word that YAHUSHA said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, you shall deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
APPROACHING now to the feast of the Pecach week, which is said to be the Pecach. 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Yahudah surnamed Iyshqiryot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 And at the beginning of the daylight hours of the Pecach week, when the Pecach must be killed. 8 He sent Kepha and Yahuchanon, saying, Go and prepare us את eth-the Pecach, that we may eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where will you that we prepare? 10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters in. 11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master says unto you, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat את eth-the Pecach with my Talmidiym? 12 And he shall show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. 13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the Pecach. 14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. 15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat את eth-this Pecach with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not anymore eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the Kingdom of YAHUAH. 17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of YAHUAH shall come.
19 And he took את eth-the bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the Renewed Covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.
21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrays me is with me on the table. 22 And truly the Son of Adam goes, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! 23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. 25 And he said unto them, The kings of the other people exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. 26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that serves. 27 For whether is greater, he that sits at meat, or he that serves? is not he that sits at meat? but I am among you as he that serves. 28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. 29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed unto me; 30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Yisra’el.
31 And ADONAI said, Shim`on, Shim`on, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are turned back, strengthen your brethren. 33 And he said unto him, ADONAI, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death. 34 And he said, I tell you, Kepha, the cock shall not crow this day, before that you shall thrice deny that you know me. 35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, ADONAI, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the Mount of Olives; and his Talmidiym also followed him. 40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his Talmidiym, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
47 And while he yet spoke, behold a multitude, and he that was called Yahudah, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto YAHUSHA to kiss him. 48 But YAHUSHA said unto him, Yahudah, betray you the Son of Adam with a kiss? 49 When they which were about him saw what would follow את eth, they said unto him, ADONAI, shall we smite with the sword?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. 51 And YAHUSHA answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. 52 Then YAHUSHA said unto the chief priests, and captains of the Temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? 53 When I was daily with you in the Temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Kepha followed afar off. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Kepha sat down among them. 56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. 57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. 58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, You are also of them. And Kepha said, Man, I am not. 59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galiyliy. 60 And Kepha said, Man, I know not what you say. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crew. 61 And ADONAI turned, and looked upon Kepha. And Kepha remembered the word of ADONAI, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, you shall deny me thrice. 62 And Kepha went out, and wept bitterly.
63 And the men that held YAHUSHA mocked him, and smote him. 64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote you? 65 And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him.
66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, 67 Are you HAMASHIACH? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. 69 Hereafter shall the Son of Adam sit on the right hand of the power of YAHUAH. 70 Then said they all, Are you then the Son of ELOHIYM? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
