PARSHAT: Bere'shiyth 1:1 - 6:8

CHAPTER 1

IN the beginning ELOHIYM created את eth the heavens and את eth the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the RUACH ELOHIYM moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And ELOHIYM said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And ELOHIYM sawאת  eth-the light, that it was good: and ELOHIYM divided the light from the darkness. 5 And ELOHIYM called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 And ELOHIYM said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And ELOHIYM made את eth-the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And ELOHIYM called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 And ELOHIYM said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And ELOHIYM called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and ELOHIYM saw that it was good. 11 And ELOHIYM said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and ELOHIYM saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And ELOHIYM said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for appointed feasts, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And ELOHIYM made את eth-two great lights; את eth-the greater light to rule the day, and את eth-the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And ELOHIYM set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and ELOHIYM saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. 20 And ELOHIYM said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And ELOHIYM created את eth-great sea monsters, and את eth every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and את eth every winged fowl after his kind: and ELOHIYM saw that it was good. 22 And ELOHIYM blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill את eth-the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And ELOHIYM said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And ELOHIYM made את eth-the beast of the earth after his kind, and את eth-cattle after their kind, and את eth everything that creeps upon the earth after his kind: and ELOHIYM saw that it was good.

26 And ELOHIYM said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. 27 So ELOHIYM created את eth-man in his own image, in the image of ELOHIYM created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And ELOHIYM blessed them, and ELOHIYM said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish את eth-the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

29 And ELOHIYM said, Behold, I have given you את eth-every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and את eth every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given את eth every green herb for meat: and it was so. 31 And ELOHIYM saw את eth-everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

CHAPTER 2

THUS the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day ELOHIYM ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And ELOHIYM blessed את eth-the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which ELOHIYM created and made.

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that YAHUAH ELOHIYM made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for YAHUAH ELOHIYM had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till את eth-the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered את eth-the whole face of the ground. 7 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM formed את eth-the man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living soul.

8 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put את eth-the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground made YAHUAH ELOHIYM to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 10 And a river went out of Eden to water את eth-the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. 11 The name of the first is Piyshon:[i] that is it which compasses את eth the whole land of Chaviylah,[ii] where there is gold; 12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 13 And the name of the second river is Giychon:[iii] the same is it that compasses את eth the whole land of Kush.[iv] 14 And the name of the third river is Chiddeqel:[v] that is it which goes toward the east of Ashshur.[vi] And the fourth river is Perath.[vii] 15 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM took את eth-the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to guard it. 16 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

18 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground YAHUAH ELOHIYM formed every beast of the field, and את eth every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for the man there was not found a help meet for him. 21 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And את eth-the rib, which YAHUAH ELOHIYM had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave את eth-his father and את eth-his mother, and shall cleave unto his woman: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his woman, and were not ashamed.

CHAPTER 3

NOW the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which YAHUAH ELOHIYM had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, has ELOHIYM said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, ELOHIYM has said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For ELOHIYM knows that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as elohiym, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her man with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the את eth-voice of YAHUAH ELOHIYM walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and the man and his woman hid themselves from the presence of YAHUAH ELOHIYM amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where are you? 10 And he said, I heard your את eth-voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded you that you should not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM said unto the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM said unto the serpent, Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast  of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life: 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your man, and he shall rule over you. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because you have hearkened unto the voice of your woman, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat את eth-the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return. 20 And Adam called his woman’s name Chuah;[viii] because she was the mother of all living. 21 Unto Adam also and to his woman did YAHUAH ELOHIYM make coats of skins, and clothed them.

22 And YAHUAH ELOHIYM said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever: 23 Therefore YAHUAH ELOHIYM sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till את eth-ground from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out את eth-the man; and he placed at the east of the Garden of Eden את eth-Keruviym,[ix] and את eth a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way of the tree of life.

CHAPTER 4

AND Adam knew את eth-Chuah his woman; and she conceived, and bore את eth-Qayin[x] and said, I have gotten a man from את eth-YAHUAH. 2 And she again bore את eth-his brother את eth-Hevel.[xi] And Hevel was a keeper of sheep, but Qayin was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Qayin brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto YAHUAH. 4 And Hevel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And YAHUAH had respect unto Hevel and to his offering: 5 But unto Qayin and to his offering he had not respect. And Qayin was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6 And YAHUAH said unto Qayin, Why are you wroth? and why is your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And unto you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him. 8 And Qayin talked with Hevel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Qayin rose up against Hevel his brother, and slew him.

9 And YAHUAH said unto Qayin, Where is Hevel your brother? And he said, I know not: Am I to guard my brother? 10 And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood cries unto me from the ground. 11 And now are you cursed from the earth, which has opened את eth-her mouth to receive את eth-your brother's blood from your hand; 12 When you till את eth-the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto you her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall you be in the earth. 13 And Qayin said unto EL-YAHUAH, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, you have driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from your face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that everyone that finds me shall slay me. 15 And YAHUAH said unto him, Therefore whosoever slays Qayin, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And YAHUAH set a mark upon Qayin, lest any finding him should kill him.

16 And Qayin went out from the presence of YAHUAH, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 17 And Qayin knew את eth-his woman; and she conceived, and bore את eth-Chanok:[xii] and he built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Chanok. 18 And unto Chanok was born את eth-Iyrad:[xiii] and Iyrad begat את eth-Mechuya’el:[xiv] and Mechuya’el begat את eth-Methusha’el:[xv] and Methusha’el begat את eth-Lemek.[xvi]

19 And Lemek took unto him two women: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Tsillah.[xvii] 20 And Adah bore את eth-Yaval:[xviii] he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. 21 And his brother's name was Yuval:[xix] he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. 22 And Tsillah, she also bore את eth-Tubal Qayin,[xx] an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal Qayin was Na`amah.[xxi] 23 And Lemek said unto his women, Adah and Tsillah, Hear my voice; ye women of Lemek, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. 24 If Qayin shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lemek seventy and sevenfold.

25 And Adam knew את eth-his woman again; and she bore a son, and called את eth-his name Sheth:[xxii] For ELOHIYM, said she, has appointed me another seed instead of Hevel, whom Qayin slew. 26 And to Sheth, to him also there was born a son; and he called את eth-his name Enosh:[xxiii] then began men to call upon the name of YAHUAH.

CHAPTER 5

THIS is the cepher of the generations of Adam. In the day that ELOHIYM created man, in the likeness of ELOHIYM made he him; 2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called את eth-their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

3 And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called את eth-his name Sheth: 4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten את eth-Sheth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: 5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. 6 And Sheth lived a hundred and five years, and begat את eth-Enosh: 7 And Sheth lived after he begat את eth-Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: 8 And all the days of Sheth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.

9 And Enosh lived ninety years, and begat את eth-Qeynan:[xxiv] 10 And Enosh lived after he begat את eth-Qeynan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: 11 And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years: and he died.

12 And Qeynan lived seventy years, and begat את eth-Mahalal’el:[xxv] 13 And Qeynan lived after he begat את eth-Mahalal’el eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: 14 And all the days of Qeynan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.

15 And Mahalal’el lived sixty and five years, and begat את eth-Yered:[xxvi] 16 And Mahalal’el lived after he begat את eth-Yered eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters: 17 And all the days of Mahalal’el were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

18 And Yered lived a hundred sixty and two years, and he begat את eth-Chanok: 19 And Yered lived after he begat את eth-Chanok eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 20 And all the days of Yered were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

21 And Chanok lived sixty and five years, and begat את eth-Methushelach:[xxvii] 22 And Chanok walked with את eth-ELOHIYM after he begat את eth-Methushelach three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Chanok were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Chanok walked with את eth-ELOHIYM: and he was not; for ELOHIYM took him. 25 And Methushelach lived a hundred eighty and seven years, and begat את eth-Lemek: 26 And Methushelach lived after he begat את eth-Lemek seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: 27 And all the days of Methushelach were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

28 And Lemek lived a hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29 And he called את eth-his name Noach,[xxviii] saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which YAHUAH has cursed. 30 And Lemek lived after he begat את eth-Noach five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: 31 And all the days of Lemek were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 32 And Noach was five hundred years old: and Noach begat את eth-Shem, את eth-Cham,[xxix] and את eth-Yapheth.[xxx]

CHAPTER 6

AND it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of ELOHIYM saw את eth-the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them women of all which they chose. 3 And YAHUAH said, My RUACH shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years. 4 There were Nephiliym[xxxi] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of ELOHIYM came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became warriors and tyrants which were of ancient times, men of infamy.

5 And YAHUAH saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented YAHUAH that he had made את eth-man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And YAHUAH said, I will destroy את eth-man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repents me that I have made them. 8 But Noach found grace in the eyes of YAHUAH.

HAFTARAH: Yesha`yahu 42:5 - 43:10

Thus says the EL YAHUAH, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it; he that gives breath unto the people upon it, and ruach to them that walk therein: 6 I YAHUAH have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light of the other people; 7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8 I am YAHUAH: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. 10 Sing unto YAHUAH a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. 11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Qedar inhabits: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. 12 Let them give glory unto YAHUAH, and declare his praise in the islands. 13 YAHUAH shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies. 14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once. 15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. 16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our elohiym. 18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. 19 Who is blind, but my Servant? or deaf, as my Messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as YAHUAH’S Servant? 20 Seeing many things, but you observe not; opening the ears, but he hears not. 21 YAHUAH is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the Torah, and make it honourable. 22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivers; for a spoil, and none says, Restore. 23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come? 24 Who gave Ya`aqov for a spoil, and Yisra’el to the robbers? did not YAHUAH, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his Torah. 25 Therefore he has poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it has set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

CHAPTER 43

BUT now thus says YAHUAH that created you, O Ya`aqov, and he that formed you, O Yisra’el, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you. 3 For I am YAHUAH ELOHAYKA, the Holy One of Yisra’el, your Saviour: I gave Mitsrayim for your ransom, Kush and Ceva for you. 4 Since you were precious in my sight, you have been honourable, and I have loved you: therefore will I give men for you, and people for your life. 5 Fear not: for I am with you: I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west; 6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; 7 Even everyone that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. 9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and show us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. 10 Ye are my witnesses, says YAHUAH, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no EL formed, neither shall there be after me.

BESORAH: Yahuchanon 1:1-18

IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with את eth ELOHIYM, and the Word was ELOHIYM. 2 The same was in the beginning with את eth ELOHIYM. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from YAHUAH, whose name was Yahuchanon. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of YAHUAH, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of YAHUAH. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the yachiyd of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 Yahuchanon bore witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the Torah was given through Mosheh, grace and truth came by YAHUSHA HAMASHIACH. 18 את eth No man has seen YAH at any time; the yachiyd, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
