PARASHAT: Vayiqra 1:1 - 5:26

AND YAHUAH called unto Mosheh, and spoke unto him out of the Tabernacle of the assembly, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Yisra’el, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto YAHUAH, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of את eth-the herd, and of the flock. 3 If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly before YAHUAH. 4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. 5 And he shall kill את eth-the bullock before YAHUAH: and the priests, Aharon's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle את eth-the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly. 6 And he shall flay את eth-the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces. 7 And the sons of Aharon the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire: 8 And the priests, Aharon's sons, shall lay את eth the parts, את eth-the head, and את eth-the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: 9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn את eth-all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto YAHUAH.

10 And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish. 11 And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before YAHUAH: and the priests, Aharon's sons, shall sprinkle את eth-his blood round about upon the altar. 12 And he shall cut it into his pieces, with את eth-his head and את eth-his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: 13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it את eth-upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto YAHUAH.

14 And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to YAHUAH be of fowls, then he shall bring את eth-his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons. 15 And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off את eth-his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar: 16 And he shall pluck away את eth-his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes: 17 And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto YAHUAH.

CHAPTER 2

AND when any will offer a meat offering unto YAHUAH, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon: 2 And he shall bring it to Aharon's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn את eth-the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto YAHUAH: 3 And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aharon's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of YAHUAH made by fire.

4 And if you bring an oblation of a meat offering baken in the oven, it shall be matstsah cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or matstsah wafers anointed with oil.

5 And if your oblation be a meat offering baken in a pan, it shall be of fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil. 6 You shall part it in pieces, and pour oil thereon: it is a meat offering.

7 And if your oblation be a meat offering baken in the fryingpan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. 8 And you shall bring את eth-the meat offering that is made of these things unto YAHUAH: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar. 9 And the priest shall take from the meat offering את eth-a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto YAHUAH. 10 And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aharon's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of YAHUAH made by fire.

11 No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto YAHUAH, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of YAHUAH made by fire.

12 As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto YAHUAH: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. 13 And every oblation of your meat offering shall you season with salt; neither shall you suffer the salt of the covenant of your ELOHIYM to be lacking from your meat offering: with all your offerings you shall offer salt.  14 And if you offer a meat offering of your firstfruits unto YAHUAH, you shall offer for the meat offering of your firstfruits green ears of grain dried by the fire, את eth even grain beaten out of full ears. 15 And you shall put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meat offering. 16 And the priest shall burn את eth-the memorial of it, part of the beaten grain thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto YAHUAH.

CHAPTER 3

AND if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before YAHUAH. 2 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly: and Aharon's sons the priests shall sprinkle את eth-the blood upon the altar round about. 3 And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto YAHUAH; את eth-the fat that covers את eth-the inwards, and את eth-all the fat that is upon the inwards, 4 And את eth-the two kidneys, and את eth-the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and את eth-the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. 5 And Aharon's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto YAHUAH.

6 And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto YAHUAH be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish. 7 If he offer a lamb for את eth-his offering, then shall he offer before YAHUAH. 8 And he shall lay את eth-his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the Tabernacle of the assembly: and Aharon's sons shall sprinkle את eth-the blood thereof round about upon the altar. 9 And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto YAHUAH; the fat thereof, and the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and את eth-the fat that covers את eth the inwards, and את eth-all the fat that is upon the inwards, 10 And את eth-the two kidneys, and the את eth-fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and את eth-the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. 11 And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto YAHUAH.

12 And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before YAHUAH. 13 And he shall lay את eth-his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the Tabernacle of the assembly: and the sons of Aharon shall sprinkle את eth-the blood thereof upon the altar round about. 14 And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto YAHUAH; את eth-the fat that covers את eth-the inwards, and את eth-all the fat that is upon the inwards, 15 And את eth-the two kidneys, and את eth-the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and את eth-the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. 16 And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is YAHUAH’S. 17 It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

CHAPTER 4

AND YAHUAH spoke unto Mosheh, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Yisra’el, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of YAHUAH concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them: 3 If the priest that is anointed do sin according to the sin of the people; then let him bring for his sin, which he has sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto YAHUAH for a sin offering. 4 And he shall bring את eth-the bullock unto the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly before YAHUAH; and shall lay את eth-his hand upon the bullock's head, and kill את eth-the bullock before YAHUAH. 5 And the priest that is anointed shall take of the bullock's blood, and bring it to the Tabernacle of the assembly: 6 And the priest shall dip את eth-his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before YAHUAH, before את eth-the vail of the sanctuary. 7 And the priest shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before YAHUAH, which is in the Tabernacle of the assembly; and shall pour את eth all the blood of the bullock at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly. 8 And he shall take off from it את eth-all the fat of the bullock for the sin offering; את eth-the fat that covers the inwards, and את eth all the fat that is upon the inwards, 9 And את eth-the two kidneys, and את eth-the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and את eth-the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away, 10 As it was taken off from the bullock of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall burn them upon the altar of the burnt offering. 11 And את eth-the skin of the bullock, and את eth-all his flesh, with his head, and with his legs, and his inwards, and his dung, 12 Even את eth-the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn him on the wood with fire: where the ashes are poured out shall he be burnt.

13 And if the whole assembly of Yisra’el sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of YAHUAH concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty; 14 When the sin, which they have sinned against it, is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bullock for the sin, and bring him before the Tabernacle of the assembly. 15 And the elders of the assembly shall את eth-lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before YAHUAH: and את eth-the bullock shall be killed before YAHUAH. 16 And the priest that is anointed shall bring of the bullock's blood to the Tabernacle of the assembly: 17 And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before YAHUAH, את eth even before the vail. 18 And he shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before YAHUAH, that is in the Tabernacle of את eth-the assembly, and shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tabernacle of the assembly. 19 And he shall take את eth-all his fat from him, and burn it upon the altar. 20 And he shall do with the bullock as he did with the bullock for a sin offering, so shall he do with this: and the priest shall make an atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them. 21 And he shall carry forth את eth-the bullock without the camp, and burn him as he burned את eth the first bullock: it is a sin offering for the assembly.

22 When a ruler has sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of YAHUAH ELOHAYU concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty; 23 Or if his sin, wherein he has sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring את eth-his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish: 24 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill את eth-the burnt offering before YAHUAH: it is a sin offering. 25 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out את eth-his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering. 26 And he shall burn את eth-all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

27 And if anyone of the common people sin through ignorance, while he does somewhat against any of the commandments of YAHUAH concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty; 28 Or if his sin, which he has sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he has sinned. 29 And he shall lay את eth-his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay את eth-the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering. 30 And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out את eth-all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar. 31 And he shall take away את eth-all the fat thereof, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour unto YAHUAH; and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him. 32 And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish. 33 And he shall lay את eth-his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where they kill את eth-the burnt offering. 34 And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out את eth-all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar: 35 And he shall take away את eth-all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto YAHUAH: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he has committed, and it shall be forgiven him.

CHAPTER 5

AND if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he has seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity. 2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty. 3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knows of it, then he shall be guilty. 4 Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knows of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these. 5 And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he has sinned in that thing: 6 And he shall bring את eth-his transgression offering unto YAHUAH for his sin which he has sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin. 7 And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for את eth-his trespass, which he has committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto YAHUAH; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering. 8 And he shall bring them unto the priest, who shall offer את eth-that which is for the sin offering first, and wring off את eth-his head from his neck, but shall not divide it asunder: 9 And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering. 10 And he shall offer את eth-the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he has sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.

11 But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring את eth-for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering. 12 Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, את eth-even a memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto YAHUAH: it is a sin offering. 13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he has sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and the remnant shall be the priest's, as a meat offering.

14 And YAHUAH spoke unto Mosheh, saying, 15 If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of YAHUAH; then he shall bring את eth-for his trespass unto YAHUAH a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with your estimation by sheqels of silver, after the sheqel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering: 16 And he shall make את eth-amends for the harm that he has done in the holy thing, and shall add את eth-the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.

17 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of YAHUAH; though he knew it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. 18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and knew it not, and it shall be forgiven him. 19 It is a trespass offering: he has certainly trespassed against YAHUAH.

HAFTARAH: Shemu'el Rishon 15:2-34

Thus says YAHUAH TSEVA’OT, I remember את eth that which Amaleq did to Yisra’el, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Mitsrayim. 3 Now go and smite את eth-Amaleq, and utterly destroy את eth-all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. 4 And Sha’ul gathered את eth-the people together, and numbered them in Tela’iym,[i] two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand את eth-men of Yahudah. 5 And Sha’ul came to a city of Amaleq, and laid wait in the valley.

6 And Sha’ul said unto the Qeyniyiym, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amaleqiym, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Yisra’el, when they came up out of Mitsrayim. So the Qeyniyiym departed from among the Amaleqiym. 7 And Sha’ul smote את eth-the Amaleqiym from Chaviylah until you come to Shur, that is over against Mitsrayim. 8 And he took את eth-Agag the king of the Amaleqiym alive, and utterly destroyed את eth-all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Sha’ul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

10 Then came the Word of YAHUAH unto Shemu’el, saying, 11 It repents me that I have set up את eth-Sha’ul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and has not performed את eth-my commandments. And it grieved Shemu’el; and he cried unto EL-YAHUAH all night. 12 And when Shemu’el rose early to meet Sha’ul in the morning, it was told Shemu’el, saying, Sha’ul came to Karmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal. 13 And Shemu’el came to Sha’ul: and Sha’ul said unto him, Blessed be you of YAHUAH: I have performed את eth-the commandment of YAHUAH. 14 And Shemu’el said, What means then this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? 15 And Sha’ul said, They have brought them from the Amaleqiym: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto YAHUAH ELOHAYKA; and the rest את eth-we have utterly destroyed. 16 Then Shemu’el said unto Sha’ul, Stay, and I will tell you את eth what YAHUAH has said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. 17 And Shemu’el said, When you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Yisra’el, and YAHUAH anointed you king over Yisra’el? 18 And YAHUAH sent you on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy את eth-the sinners את eth-the Amaleqiym, and fight against them until they be consumed. 19 Wherefore then did you not obey the voice of YAHUAH, but did fly upon the spoil, and did evil in the sight of YAHUAH? 20 And Sha’ul said unto Shemu’el, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of YAHUAH, and have gone the way which YAHUAH sent me, and have brought את eth-Agag the king of Amaleq, and have utterly destroyed את eth-the Amaleqiym. 21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto YAHUAH ELOHAYKA in Gilgal. 22 And Shemu’el said, Has YAHUAH as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of YAHUAH? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected את eth-the Word of YAHUAH, he has also rejected you from being king.

24 And Sha’ul said unto Shemu’el, I have sinned: for I have transgressed את eth-the commandment of YAHUAH, and את eth-your words: because I feared את eth-the people, and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, I pray you, pardon את eth-my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship YAHUAH. 26 And Shemu’el said unto Sha’ul, I will not return with you: for you have rejected את eth-the Word of YAHUAH, and YAHUAH has rejected you from being king over Yisra’el. 27 And as Shemu’el turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. 28 And Shemu’el said unto him, YAHUAH has rent את eth-the kingdom of Yisra’el from you this day, and has given it to a neighbour of yours, that is better than you. 29 And also the Strength of Yisra’el will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. 30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Yisra’el, and turn again with me, that I may worship YAHUAH ELOHAYKA. 31 So Shemu’el turned again after Sha’ul; and Sha’ul worshipped YAHUAH.

32 Then said Shemu’el, Bring ye hither to me את eth-Agag the king of the Amaleqiym. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past. 33 And Shemu’el said, As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women. And Shemu’el hewed את eth-Agag in pieces before YAHUAH in Gilgal.

34 Then Shemu’el went to Ramah; and Sha’ul went up to his house to Giv`ah of Sha’ul. 35 And Shemu’el came no more to see את eth-Sha’ul until the day of his death: nevertheless Shemu’el mourned for את eth-Sha’ul: and YAHUAH repented that he had made Sha’ul king over Yisra’el.

BESORAH: Marcus 7:1-30

THEN came together unto him the Parashiym, and certain of the scribes, which came from Yerushalayim. 2 And when they saw some of his Talmidiym eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. 3 For the Parashiym, and all the Yahudiym, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. 4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. 5 Then the Parashiym and scribes asked him, Why walk not your Talmidiym according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? 6 He answered and said unto them, Well has Yesha`yahu prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honours me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of YAHUAH, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of YAHUAH, that ye may guard your own tradition. 10 For Mosheh said, Honour את eth-your father and את eth-your mother; and, Whoso curses father or mother, let him die the death: 11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Qorban,[ii] that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me; he shall be free. 12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; 13 Making the Word of YAHUAH of no effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me everyone of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his Talmidiym asked him concerning the parable. 18 And he said unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without enters into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 Because it enters not into his heart, but into the belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats? 20 And he said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

24 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tsor and Tsiydon, and entered into a house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid. 25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean ruach, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: 26 The woman was a Yavaniy, a Syrophoenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27 But YAHUSHA said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, ADONAI: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. 29 And he said unto her, For this saying go your way; the devil is gone out of your daughter. 30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
