On QOLASIYM: Chapter 1 - Part Three

Let’s continue to read as the mysteries are revealed. The mystery becomes more intricate in the next verse, but is a concept readily described in the Hebrew letter aleph.

Qolasiym (Colossians) 1:15

Who is the image of the invisible YAH, the firstborn of every creature: 

Here, we see three letters combined to form the aleph – the yod (the hand of YAH), the vav (the nail), and the inverted yod (the image of the invisible YAH in finite).  Before revealing more about this letter, consider the gematria involved.  The yod has a numerical value of 10, the vav, six, and the inverted yod, 10, yielding a total gematria of 26.  Compare with the Tetragrammaton, the yod, heh, vav, heh, where the yod is 10, the heh, 5, the vav, 6, and the heh, 5, yielding a total gematria of 26. 

The yod on the right signifies the eternal YAH – the unknowable, unnamable, invisible YAH ayn soph (without end), divided from the finite and knowable by a nail – the sign (oth) of the crucifixion contemplated from the foundation of the world, and in the finite, the image of the invisible YAH in the form of the inverted yod.  This aleph tells us so much of what we need to know, that YAHUSHA is YAHUAH in the finite, for if we have seen the son, we have seen the father, a knowable, speaking, and hearing YAHUAH, through whom all creation in the finite came.

Qolasiym (Colossians) 1:16-17

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Now this hearkens back, does it not, to Yahuchanon’s discussion in his Besorah? 

Yahuchanon (John) 1:1-2

IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with את eth ELOHIYM, and the Word was ELOHIYM. 2 The same was in the beginning with את eth ELOHIYM. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

While this gives us the opportunity to drop into an advanced discourse on metaphysics, I will refrain, and limit my remarks to a summary. 

Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 1:2

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the RUACH ELOHIYM moved upon the face of the waters.

Yahuchanon (John) 1:4-5

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Yahuchanon (John) 8:12

Then spoke YAHUSHA again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Yahuchanon (John) 9:5

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Now, let us return to the statement made in this letter to the Qolasiym:

Qolasiym (Colossians) 1:16-17

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

When we look at this - taking it, of course, at face value - we can conclude that the void itself and its darkness were part of the things which he created.  Yahuchanon then says that the light shines through this darkness, but the darkness does not comprehend it.  Such is creation! All of matter is nothing more than light dividing darkness, simple in its formula, and infinitely complex at the hand of YAH.

Yahuchanon (John) 17:4

I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work which you gave me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world was.

Here, we see that MASHIACH was with the Father before the world was – before creation. This concept is set forth particularly well in these two verses (16 and 17) of Qolasiym 1.  MASHIACH is the Or Ayn Soph (the light without end) who was glorified with the Father before creation, and is the Or Ha’aretz (light of the world) through which all of creation came to be.  That is the essence of what is being said here.  Now let us continue on to the mysteries, shall we?

Devariym (Deuteronomy) 29:29

Now the secrets of YAHUAH ELOHAYNU, and the revealing to us and our sons forever, is by observance of את eth-all the words of this Torah.
